Welcome

Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog. I intended to get this started quite some time ago, but didn’t do it until now, Spring 2011. Life kept getting in the way. Not that anything has slowed down. It’s more like the sense of “just do it” got louder. This is the time and place for me to begin a new form of self-expression. My goal is to strike a chord of interconnectedness and offer information about the metaphysical tools I’ve been studying and practicing for most of the last forty years. (That’s right, 40!)

The only constant in my life has been my search for meaning. Each metaphysical tool has a purpose of greatest usefulness, and I will share these techniques as I continue to seek out ways of relaxing into the rhythm of my life. I used to say “the only goal is to have no goals.” but that Buddhistic truth is no longer my truth. Now I know the goal is to relax.

The planetary aspects of this moment are extreme. Just listen to the news or open a newspaper and you will be bombarded with war, fighting, and strife. Planet Earth is not comfortable and it’s rearranging itself. This doesn’t have to be frightening, but it does mean that there’s more need than ever to be calm. Not to act out of anxiety.

My small contribution is to open lines of communication with you. You may add comments and I will do my best to reply. This isn’t the place to air personal problems or complaints, but it is good to observe what each of us is saying about our world.  If you know someone who might be interested in this forum, please pass along this site.

We just passed the Spring Equinox and at this moment there are five planets in the sign of Aries, forming a T-Square with Pluto and Saturn. Talk about intensity! Everywhere I look I see contentiousness and the need for balance and negotiation. We may not, as individuals, be able to ease problems in the Middle East or end Japan’s nuclear disaster. The horror the Japanese people are faced with is awful. We all face it. Giving – donating – is something each of us can do. But more is required. It isn’t happening to “them” but to “us.” The Earth is parched, and frustrations are running high. It’s a bit of a tinder box.

Every day we need to take time to touch peace, even if only for a few minutes

There‘s mounting pressure in the air.  Every day there’s an opportunity to slow down and use the tools we’ve been given.

At the very least, this is a time for constructive action. Do something. Don’t drive, walk. Talk with your neighbors. Don’t have all the answers, curiosity is a worthy guide. If that sounds too hokey, then simply sit still and smile. Believe it or not, that will calm the collective chorus.

In later posts, I’ll share my ongoing process of touching peace in the midst of chaos. It won’t be a primer on how to use various techniques, but it will show the tools in action.

I’ll also share the titles of worthy books I’m reading and films I’ve watched, and meditation teachers that have helped me find my way. I share not because I have all the answers. In fact, I’m just like you: Looking for Peace.

    Lucy, The feeling of helplessness and wanting to bury myself under the covers is overwhelming at times. I love the idea of sitting and smiling “to calm the collective chorus”. Beautifully written and it resonates strongly with me. Thank you. Xo
